Some weddings go exactly as planned, but many end up slightly off-schedule. Here are a few suggestions to avoid needless stress so that you can fully enjoy your day:
1. 1- Have your hair and makeup done as early as possible. Also, make sure to get dressed ahead of time because it often takes longer than anticipated to tie sashes, pin veils and fasten hair accessories.
The groomsmen will also need to pin on boutonnieres and put on cuff links, shirt studs, etc. You should have a small sewing kit ready for emergency repairs and adjustments.
2. 2- If you don’t have a wedding planner, appoint someone to keep track of time. This way you and your party can avoid a last minute rush to the ceremony.
3. 3- Try to have some photographs of you, your bridesmaids and parents taken before the wedding. This way you can spend more time with your guests.
4. 4- Include time in your schedule for the receiving line, as it could take upwards of 30 minutes unless you make a hasty exit before being inundated by well-wishers.
5. 5- Bustling a complicated wedding dress takes extra time, so take that into consideration as well when planning your schedule.
6. 6- Make sure to send directions and parking information to your guests and photographer with specific addresses for ceremony and reception sites.
7. 7- Allow extra travel time between locations-- especially during heavy traffic hours.
8. 8- Leave extra time for photographs if you are going to have them taken in multiple locations.
9. 9- Assign someone to gather the family for posed group pictures. Remember to have your list of groups in advance. Make sure that everyone included is prepared to be photographed.
10. 10- Allow extra time for “couple photos”, especially if the ceremony or reception is located in a picturesque setting.
Staying close to schedule and leaving extra time in between events will ensure that your day goes smoothly. As a result, you will look more relaxed and natural in your photographs.
I hope you’ve found these tips helpful. I wish you happiness on your wedding day.
